New Year, new colour trends. I have put together a list of the most desirable make-up palettes from major to lesser-known brands that you’ll be wanting to stash away in your handbag between work and dinner parties. It’s all about colour, colour, colour. Read on and see which one suits you perfectly.
Christian Dior 3 Colour Smokey Palette in Sand
This trio of sandy to chocolate brown colours comes in 3 different textures as well as 3 shades to play with. It makes creating a smoky eye practically foolproof. The size is perfect to slip into a handbag so don’t even worry about juggling several pots around with you.
Urban Decay Naked Palette 3
After their groundbreaking Naked 1 and Naked 2, Urban Decay has once again sets standards for wearable make up with the Naked 3 palette. The concept of this one is rose gold, with their standout shade being a matte black colour with shimmering plum glitter.
NARS Narcissist Palette
If you have a thing for punchy neutrals, look no further. It combines 30 of NARS most successful all-time shades, both from the singles and duo collections, and run from the most inky blacks and midnight blues, to the lightest and sheerest shades of dusty pink you could possibly want to do a sophisticated neutral look. This is a perfect gift for a bride-to-be as it has everything necessary in a bridal eyeshadow palette. Take a look at Wedding Site for indispensable advice on bridal beauty.
Kat Von D True Romance eyeshadow palette Poetica
This edgy eyeshadow palette from the Rock Chick Queen runs from rich royal purple all the way to bright blistering oranges. It’s not a palette for the colour shy, only the brave may enter here. It’s very versatile and fantastic for creating party and high-fashion looks. Check out the fantastic tutorial videos from the woman herself on YouTube.
YSL Pure Chromatic Number 12 Arctic Night
Yes, this selection is based on silver colours, but tone can be just as exciting as hue. This collection of 1 matte gray and 3 metallic silver and black with subtle pops of blue and green is a stunning palette that makes a monochrome outfit shine. This particular line is famous for the technology which allows for water to “activate” the shadows and make them even more vibrant than they already are in the well. This is top of the list for our wish list in 2014–we just hope we can get one before they sell-out.
There is something for everyone on this list, so you have no excuse not to get stuck in and start experimenting with all sorts of colours, textures and references in 2014. Which product is your favourite and why? I think I am going to stick with the last one on the list, YSL 12, as I think it will be indispensable to create every party look in the upcoming year.
