The Blonds Spring/Summer 2013 Beauty Backstage- Key MAC Make-up Artist Kabuki…

I have been waiting for this moment for a long time…To finally get backstage to The Blonds show- It has been one of my to do lists to achieve this year and I was overly excited when I had my invited by MAC to go to this show backstage to see the trends and to see what key MAC makeup artist Kabuki created! The Blonds; conformed by David and Phillipe Blond, theme their collection and design under their own rules. Being an industry trend setters as they are-  embroider corsets and feminine silhouettes were being showed through this collection,  and inspired like every other collection, for this season The Blonds used one of the most appealed and recognised icons over the years, and with quite controversial beginning: Playboy.

Make-up by MAC key artist Kabuki:

The makeup look Kabuki demonstrated to us was ‘the 1900’s revisited’- “That’s the inspiration for this season’s look,” says key make-up artist Kabuki who I have wanted to meet in a long time. The looks were also inspired by Italian Vogue and Madonna’s ‘SEX’ book.

A palette of browns and nudes used to sculpt and dramatize the features for that non human supermodel look using all MAC-  Studio sculpt foundation, Prep + prime transparent finishing powder and Sculpting power in ‘Bone Beige’. All make-up artistry tricks were being used in the eyes- Pale lids were defined with ‘Coffee’ eye pencil to contour and crease; brows were filled in with ‘Bare Canvas’, two sweeps of cream liner lift and separate the upper and lower lash line. The lashes were then finished off with short spikey lashes in style #35 this created an aerodynamic effect.

The lips are edged with a fine line of lip pencil in ‘Spice’ and filled in with a warm nude lipstick in ‘Posh Paradise Mattene’ this was slightly paler in the center of the lips, gicing the illusion of a fuller pout on the run way.

A tan blush colour gives the cheeks dimensions working arounf the head pieces . Finally the look was sexy, powerful and confident! A dream look that is werable for all and I learnt so much from Kabuki- I am feeling very inspired after seeing Kabuki create this look.

Nails by CND Artist Kristina Estabrooks:

The inspiration for the nail art by CND was  “Psycho Beach Party” show, CND’s Kristina Estabrooks crafted an array of elaborately detailed nails including Shark Bites, skinny dip blue, and red caviar over CND Colour in Blackjack! I am loving all the creative nail design CND have been creating this season!

Designer Phillipe Blond photographed backstage! He was stunning…
