Beauty Highlight of New York Fashion Week- Spring Summer 2013 Trends
One of the strongest makeup look to come out of New York fashion week so far is the minimalist. Whether it be nude lips at Rodarte, neutral nails at Zac Posen (and Derek Lam and Thakoon), barely there makeup at Tommy Hilfiger and Charlotte Ronson and clean, natural hair at Jill Stuart; this Spring is looking like a beautifully plain one with wearable looks we can all relate to. There’s an emphasis on strong brows, skin care and sculpting on the face, with nude (and matte) nails. There has also been a huge ‘nail fashion’ trend popping up at the shows created by the CND team- this complimented all the designers collections and worked with the hair and make-up. In this week’s colour story, we’re taking our cues from the runway and going back to basics. Just remember that this isn’t about no makeup, this is about nude makeup with a dash of dewy, highlighted cheekbones to boot — all hail the minimalist and some splash of art through the nails- I would actually say the beauty is all eyes on nails!
I catched up with many MAC and Maybelline artists this fashion week on the beauty trends for Spring/Summer 2013 and here is there round up of the trends- Pared-down make-up is often a staple for the summer season, but what’s different this time? The new super-tools of the trade: be it Estee Lauder’s Idealist serum, used by Tom Pecheux at Derek Lam as a flawless primer for foundation; or MAC’s Mineralize moisturiser applied to the top of the cheekbones to play light off the face by Charlotte Tilbury at Prabal Gurung; or CND’s new spring/summer 2013 nail varnishes- “The nails are becoming more and more important,” said CND rep Hannah Longman. “The best thing about nail fashion is that you can be as creative or detailed as you want to re-create a runway look.”
I hope you have all enjoyed keeping up to date with the beauty this season on my blog for New York Fashion Week S/S13 Beauty trends! I have enjoyed every moment here and I can’t wait to see what London Fashion Week brings.
A huge thank you to MAC, Maybelline, NARS and Deborah Lippmann for making backstage access that little bit extra special this week.
