After an amazing time in New York it was time to reflect on what a special 10 days it has been. It has always been an ambition to work in America and to do it with Karla Cosmetics so early on was a massive honor.

I have so many people to thank! Firstly I would like to thank Temptu who provided the most amazing setting for my Lip Art & Creative workshop. Nothing was too much and they made us feel so welcome and they took great care of us. To finally get to see the show room was amazing, full of products that I couldn’t wait to get my hands on. Many thanks also to my main make-up sponsorships: Eldora False Lashes, Treasure House of Make-up, Victoria Loves Beauty, Sparkly Nails, Eye Kandy Cosmetics.

I also wanted to thank all of my followers, not just in America but around the world. Your support and messages mean the world to me and you have given me a platform to be able to live my dreams everyday.

In September I return to New York launch my range out there at Kenig & Alcone. We will be running an amazing competition as well to celebrate the launch! (Hint… You will need a Karla Chart to enter this amazing give away!!)

My Favourite Lip Art Products…

Lip Art is taking over my make-up world this year with my Lip Art workshop tours & my new Karla Cosmetics Lip Art brushes launching soon! My followers get to see me create many new creative lip art looks using my favourite lip art products I just cannot live without!

Today’s blog features some of my favourite lip art products I can’t live without in my Lip Make-up Kit:

Coming soon… Karla Cosmetics Lip Art Workshops in Dublin, Glasgow and New York!

My New Make-up & Hair work! Gestural Abstraction (2) Demonstrated at Vanity X, Dublin using Crown-brushes.

I was asked by VanityX to visit their make-up school in Dublin, to give a full make-up demonstration using my Crown-brushes and to let my Irish followers into world of my make-up artistry success story with my full tips in the industry and what products I love to use when creating my make-up looks!

VanityX is one of Irelands TOP Make Up Academy’s, that offer courses designed around the make-up industry with on-going student support, and REAL industry experience! The story behind Debbie Mc Quillan who set up the school a few years was so inspiring and I was so delighted and over whelmed to be asked to visit their school and to meet some of my Irish followers. It will be a day I won’t forget and hope to return there next year.

Above are the Final edited images of the Gestural Abstraction Make-up look I demonstrated to the VanityX students ( I was lucky to have professional images took of my look on the day) ‘Gestural Abstraction’ is where I had the chance to show off the process of making art! Gestural Abstraction means you are demonstrating a variety of techniques that include dripping, dabbing, smearing, and even flinging paint on to the surface of the canvas (My Model Lyn) .

To create these techniques it all depends on actions directed by the artist (Using my Duo Fibre Crown-brushes) using a sense of control interacting with chance or random occurrences better known as Action Painting! Within this look it was all down to movement on how I was feeling, so therefore was not a planned look and isn’t supposed to look symmetrical or a normal day to day make-up look. This was all down to layering and textures using the natural contours of my models features.

Many thanks to model Lynn Kelly from Assets Models and Lee from Absolute Studios for taking these awesome pictures!

Here they are! All the final images from my ‘Gold Water’ Make-up, Hair look & Nails looks for the ‘Rise of the Golden Princess’ Part of Luke Woodford Abandoned Fashion Series! Exclusively for FaceON Magazine.

I think this is one of the best photo-shoots I have ever done in terms of creativity, makeup and having the perfect team that complement each other beautifully. The outcome turned out exactly how I dreamt it to be (I most certainly had sleepless nights planning for this look)

‘Eccentric’ it’s a game of textures, mixing textured with leather feel to the skin with a touch of graphic metallic element on key highlighted areas on the face.  Finally I wanted to add highly dramatic intricately detail to brows and under the bottom lash line , I took inspiration from the pattern designs from Joanne Flemings dresses and the pond environment and how a beautiful princess would look in my mind if she was living around a gold pond. “It only reveals itself upon intimate inspection”.

Behind the Scenes in Paris – My Painted Lady.

I had an amazing weekend working away in France for Luke Woodford’s Abandoned Fashion Series project where I had the chance to work with some amazing designer pieces and hats which were styled perfectly on the day with my Parisian Painted Lady make-up look.

The inspiration for the make-up look I created was based on the concept of a lady who haunts the streets of Paris and was burnt alive in 1940s (All will be revealed when the final images are out) This resulted in me creating a living canvas of a painted lady using just paints and make-up to give a 2D illusion- something I am loving doing at the moment after my Pop Art make-up look, and the response I got from my followers on this look was amazing, especially after people still couldn’t guess if my models eyes were open or close. I can confirm the eyes were painted on over her eyelids. And trust me no make-up in the world can keep these eyes from not smudging so my beautiful model Tess did have to keep her eyes closed most of the time in Paris in the 30 degrees of heat in the street of Paris too! She was such a trooper.

The team behind this shoot also made it extra special on this weekend especially as I was surrounded by likeminded creatives who inspire me to believe in my dreams (Luke Invites along photographers to come and experience the project so they can learn from him) and I also love that the photographers capture the weekend with their fantastic talented photography skills. All the above pictures were took by photographer Peter Alberti, I love every single picture he took. It was so hard for me to pick just 10 pictures for this blog post, however I will upload them all on my Facebook Fan page soon.

I also had two make-up artists who applied to assist me that got to experience this weekend too which were a pleasure to bring them into this project and teaching them some of my skills. I am looking forward to opening it up for more new assistants soon to come to the next one.

Keep a look out for my behind the scene video coming on my YouTube channel soon and of course the final images that will be published in Razor Red Magazine.

Behind the scenes of my ‘Parisian Painted Make-up’ look in Paris.

Here are a few behind the scene images I took of my painted make-up look with my nails shown there too ;) I created it in Paris for Luke Woodford’s Abandoned Fashion Series. This was look 2 I created was on day two of the shoot! Far from the subtle look I created the day before(which I can’t releases any images till the designers collection comes out) .

Keep a look out for a full behind the scene pictures, videos then release of the images ready for publication in Razor Red Magazine soon!

NEW Face-lace Festival Collection Designs.

Once again Phyllis Cohen amazes me with her amazing creation of Face Lace designs. These NEW Woodstock inspired pieces, representing the elements in Shades of the sea, sky and rainbows, all being just £9.95 each are now available on www.face-lace.com

All Face lace are made of very thin colour printed vinyl with hypoallergenic adhesive backing. They are set on a special release paper with tabs to simplify use. Perfect for male-up artists wanting to create quick and quirky looks. I see them being used a lot at Fashion Week and Events where make-up artists have to create many different make-up looks in a time limit.

It was so nice to finally meet Phyllis at IMATS. She is a talented artist who deserves to have such an amazing idea go global. I wish her all the luck in what she does best. I am inspire by her.

I have been using Face-Lace for a long time now and love all the designs. Check them out here www.face-lace.com

To see a full review on Face Lace and when I used them for a make-up job check out my blog post >here<
