Do you use a stainless steel palette on your make-up jobs?
They are considered a Pro Essential. Whether you’re mixing cream-based or liquid makeup, holding excess product, or applying on the skin, this kind of palette is always durable and good for a bustling shoot schedule. It’s the bridge between your professional makeup products and your client’s beautiful face. This is from Crownbrush 613 7Pc HD Set which comes with six make-up brushes too. The palette has enough room to put moisturiser, foundations, concealers, gel liner, eyelash glue, lipsticks, and glosses on the palette and comes with double ended mental spatula to pick up most of your products to place on the palette.
I do tend to use the back of my hand a lot for my palette however when I am mixing up a lot of products this palette comes out to play. I simply wipe it down and place back in my make-up kit and take home to clean for the next shoot/event.

NEW Make-up Images for Choulachou London NEW SS13 Lookbook!
I was very excited to work with one of my favourite photographers on this job- Ryan Handy, who I work with a lot on different shoots. There were lots of images from this shoot, however these two are my favourite that I had to share in today’s blog post. Choulachou is a NEW young design label, based in London where they collaborate with talented illustrators who design their unique and imaginative prints. Choulachou collections mix fashion and art into unique accessories that expresses individuality.
For Choulachou Look book we kept the makeup and hair girly and fun for each design to keep the continuity of the look throughout. The scarves are carefully crafted combining great style and quality to become the perfect expression of anyone’s personality so I wanted to keep the make-up simple where the scarves and the models personality had the chance to shine through.
“Be fun, be creative, be quirky, be funky, be daring, be stubborn, BE YOURSELF!” Choulachou.

Visit to Superstar in Amsterdam!
Superstar paint is becoming a new brand to the UK where The Face Painting Shop introduced me to the range and the brand is now only distributed in the UK by them and I am proud to say Superstar are now my official Sponsor for my make-up jobs when I need to use the paints. Superstar is manufactured in Holland – Oosterhout where I was lucky enough to be invited to the factory with The Face Painting Shop yesterday to meet the owner Marco Van Leenep. It was a chance to learn more about the brand, meet the people behind the brand and to see how Superstar paints are made- which like when I went to Kryolan’s factory last year I was truly fascinated of the effort goes into making these paints.

I have been using face paints since I started make-up and they are great for creative make-up and even beauty make-up too! I have had lots of years working with face paints now and I have finally mastered how to get the right consistency when using them for body painting work all the way to beauty work. If you haven’t tried water/cream Superstar paints before I suggest buying a few primary colours and experimenting. I have even used the paints to create some of my lip art looks!

Superstar actually started out as a bakery in the 1920s then after the Second World War the company decided to produce Make-up! Superstar’s oldest employee is 71years old with the rest of the staff working there for over 18 years + This was very obvious in the work space with an amazing family business atmosphere, you could feel the passion behind their work towards the brand just by meeting and seeing them work and in my eyes this helps to make the brand who they are and to keep up a high standard. We got told by some of the staff they can make up to 1500 + Superstar paints between two of them in a day… And yes all handmade! Madness.
Superstar is a fantastic paint that is so gentle on the skin, is great in the heat, and comes in a variety of vibrant colours and a great price to match too! Superstar also sell their own eyelashes, contact lenses, false nails and fake facial hair which we watched them making wigs.

I feel more of a connection towards Superstar now and I am really grateful and appreciate the opportunities I have with such wonderful brands like this experience. A huge thank you to Marco from Superstar and Nat at The face Painting Shop for this wonderful inspiring day. Superstar products can be purchased from www.thefacepaintingshop.com

Origins NEW Make-up range!
I was so excited when I heard one of my favourite skin care brands which I use on my models all the time- ‘Origins’ finally have a NEW make-up range out and I am finding myself using it more and more on my make-up jobs and on myself so I had to do a blog post on the range and some of the products I love using from the new range…
The foundation & Concealers:

This sits beautifully on the skin and gives a luminosity and radiance but without looking oily or shiny. There are eleven shades in the Plantscription foundations and six shades of Plantscription concealers.
Ginzing Brightening Cream Shadows:

There are ten shades of Ginzing Brightening cream shadows. I have fell in love with all these eye shadows and keep wearing them every day- and they were perfect on my job in Egypt and stayed put for hours when filming. The cream shadows are crease resistant, water resistant and they’re so lightweight.

Shade Khaki Kick

Shade Vanilla Vroom
Peeper Pleaser Powder Eyeshadows:
-
Shade Silk Chiffon & Violet Plum
There’s ten shades of the Peeper Pleasers ranging from a light champagne shade to a jet black shadow. The formulation of the shadows are super soft and the colour glides onto your eyes whilst providing intense colour payoff, they are sure to last on yourself or working on a model for a long day without creasing.
GinZing Mascara:

The GinZing mascara that has Carnauba Palm to help curl the lashes and the wand is everything I look for in a wand when shopping mascara’s. This comes in one shade, black!
The question is what will you be trying out from this new range?

NEW MAC Face & Body Formula in 50ML…. Finally!
Finally MAC have changed the formula of their Face and Body and now comes in a handy siz of 50ML for us make-up artists on set(because I would always have to transfer mine into a smaller bottle) It’s moisturising, buildable and gives a beautiful sheer coverage. It has been always the must have product for all MUAs and will always remain so. They will eventually fade out the old formula and replace the new formula with 50ML size and 100ML. Face and Body is best for people that do not need full coverage. The formula is great for naturally evening out complexions while simultaneously allowing the skin to still be visible and beautiful.
What’s in this formula?
It’s water-based,water-resistant , anti-oxidant-rich liquid foundation which goes on smoothly for a natural-looking wear. Ideal for all skin types. The long-lasting formula is available in a wide range of colours and contains several emollients to help moisturise and condition the skin. It delivers professional looking results that meet the exacting standards of beauty photography and is ideal for perfecting the face and body, and shouldn’t give so many people reactions to the product. My old face and body formulas I only really use on my models legs and body. So I feel more confident to use these on my models faces now.
What shades are available?
C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7, N1, N2, N3, N5, N7, N9
How much and when can I get the NEW Face & Body 50ML?
You can get this formula NOW! And will cost you £20.50!
I think this was a very smart move from MAC which I am now excited about collection the shades. The colour shown in the above picture is the lightest shade for pink undertones- N1.

I was lucky enough to be invited to Illamsqua’s sneak preview event of the NEW ‘Generation Q range’ a while back which was held in the Soho Cinema we were able to have a play around with the new Generation Q collection, as well as hear Creative Director Alex Box and Director of New Product Development David Horne talk about what they feel about the range and why they made it. I was lucky to walk away with the new precision Ink in Wisdom that day before the release and then after that I have dreamed about getting my hand on Empower palette and Gleam! And finally I have them. So I wanted to share some of the Illamasqua Generation Q products I have including swatches.

At the launch we all got to meet the glamorous lady that is Evelyn - 72 years young! Who was the first campaign model of the release. She was one of the winners of Illamasqua’s Beauty Before Age competition. She was spotted at Selfridges Exchange counter in Manchester. The make-up on Evelyn looked flawless when we met her, actually making me want the collection even more and wanting to be just like her when I reach 72! (I never thought I could be inspired by an elderly model) .

I wanted to share Alex Box’ quote on Generation Q.
‘Generation Q - is generation YOU!
It’s what they tell you not to do; it’s what you see your true self through.
It’s what is old and what is new.
What you know and what you knew.
It’s what you feel and what is true”
Alex Box, Illamasqua
Here are the Generation Q products I got…

An intense lipstick with a highly pigmented formula with a beautiful iridescent finish.
Underworld - £15.50

There are Four complimentary shades which David Horne described as a 80s revival inspired by Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. A matte flesh tone called Blink for a base colour. Powder Eye shadow in Synth which is a iridescent shimmer finish. A pressed Pure Pigment in Fervent. Then you have a New Liquid Metal in Slick dark gunmetal black with shimmer which is just amazing and glides onto the skin with such strong pigmentation. Here I have layered the colours up starting with slick as a base!

Empower Palette, £34

As a make-up artist I need the best cream highlighters ever for that perfect dewy skin that I can bled easily into all skin types without looking to shimmery! And I think I have final found this with Gleam. Illamasqua withdrew Gleam Cream which I actually loved using mixing in with foundations to recreate it in this pressed cream compact, Gleam in Aurora is the perfect shimmering champagne shade. It’s lightweight, creamy and almost has a mousse feel to it. I am already wearing this the day after I got it. Now I can’t wait to use it on different models on future photo-shoots.

Gleam- £18

You can now view Generation Q on their website and add to your wish list. Or if you Like, Tweet, Pin Illamasqua’s NEW collection so you can decide the Generation Q early release! Click here… http://www.illamasqua.com/shop/collections/generation-q/
The three with the most votes will then be made available to buy on 28th August 2012, nine days before the official global launch date…

My Must Have Concealer & Tinted Moisturiser in my Makeup Kit! Why?! Read more…
The Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage concealer is an amazing concealer I opt for when applying makeup on my models. Reasons why I love it:
*It gives a thin but completely opaque coverage
*Looks real on my models skin
*Application is flawless.
*The coverage doesn’t budge or crease.
*The firm quality of this concealer that makes it great
*It comes in 8 different duo colours to match all my models skin tones
So finally the secret camouflage concealer has two tones a light and medium shade which is designed to use in different areas of the face- the light shade under the eyes(triangle area) This also acts as a beautiful matte highlighter, then the darker shade for around the nose, outer corners of the mouth, chin area. I use it all the time and yes it’s £23 but it’s worth every penny and mine has lasted over a year now!
Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser SPF20 is one of the UKs top selling tinted moisturisers and I can see why, I love using it in my kit! …Why?! Laura Mercier tinted moisturisers add a slight tint to match the models skin tone, giving a natural un-made up look.
They all come with a SPF to protect the skin from sun damage, something that is not found in most foundations. The reason I opt for tinted Moisturisers is that it’s a very light foundation. They provide a natural illuminating look instead of the heavily made-up look seen with traditional foundations. Perfect for models on the runway or those models that have beautiful skin! If you are used to using heavy cosmetics, this may take some getting used to, some brides also love this products!
Reasons why I love it:
*Gives a natural look
*Skin looks dewy, fresh and healthy
*Doesn’t make the skin go greasy- no need to powder
Laura Mercier Illuminating tinted moisturiser is £33 and comes in 10 shades!
I am in love and you should definitely invest in your makeup kits!
