The Little Mermaid Inspired Make-up & Hair for Rochelle Humes Disney Themed Birthday Party

The Saturdays stunner Rochelle Humes threw her ‘Disney’ themed birthday bash on Saturday 30th March 2014. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to design a fun, creative make-up and hair look inspired by The Little Mermaid on Georgina Dorsett (Rochelle’s best friends) for the party. I had complete creative control when working on Georgina which resulted in me using lots of glitter, gems and sequins!

Many thanks to Annabelles Wigs who provided me with one of their stunning red wigs.

'Some Girls Are Just Born With Glitter In Their Veins'

I had so much fun teaching Glitter make-up skills & techniques at The School of Make-up based in Manchester, the school I will be teaching at over the next year.

Givenchy models brought a whole new meaning to radiant skin at Paris Fashion Week this year with their faces covered in Swarovski crystals & sequins! Created by my favourite make-up artist Pat McGrath.
(Apparently it took over 40 pairs of hands and 12 hours to create the design!)

I was so inspired by Pat McGrath design I took elements of the Givenchy look and re created my own glitter version with a galaxy optical illusion effect. I wanted it to look like the models skin was taken away and replaced with glitter. The SOM students & myself had so much fun with all that glitter, I am not too sure the model enjoyed washing all that glitter off at the end of the day though!

Keep a look out for more glitter creations I will be creating this year…

Karla Cosmetics Glitter Pills Coming Soon…
Yes it’s mad! And yes some of you think it’s a genius idea! Well really it’s been done before but it is so much fun for those needing a small amount of glitter for a quick ‘Glitter Fix’ when working on make-up jobs and more!
Some of you know but this year I have been working hard to develop my Karla Cosmetic range and slowly but surely I am revealing little teasers I am bringing in the range next Summer 2014. It’s also a great way to get all your feedback what you want to see in my range. And after many of you took my online survey for my brand many of you requested GLITTER!
So I was busy this week making these glitter pills where I posted pictures on my Instagram and many of you sent me messages and asked questions on them as some of you was confused about the concept. So I want to clarify here.
They are basically like having loose glitter in pots but instead in pill capsules that are securely tightened , they will also come in pots so after use you can dispense the unwanted glitter in the pots provided. They are a quick glitter fix for make-up artists, nail artists and those addicted to glitter. Just purely for fun, NOT edible! Unless you want to have glitter poo, he he.
Are you excited for Karla Glitter!? I am…

Blizzard Disco Make-up Creation Demonstrated at Illamasqua Beak Street Store Video Tutorial.

After winning the Illamasqua Distinction in Make-up Artistry Awards I was kindly asked by Illamasqua to do a live make-up demonstration in their Beak Street store window evening using their new ‘Envy’ Christmas Collection 2013, where my followers and shoppers had the chance to watch me at work using the new products.

I created this Blizzard Disco look on the evening and like all my make-up jobs I prepared for the job by practicing on myself here and decided to film me doing it to show you how I created the look. I hope I inspire you all to create your own Christmas make-up look with Illamasqua NEW Envy Collection.

Full blog post on all the products I used to create the look and including more pictures can be found on this >link<.

Hope you enjoy it.

Blizzard Disco Make-up Creation Demonstrated at Illamasqua Beak Street Store

After winning the Illamasqua Distinction in Make-up Artistry Awards I was kindly asked by Illamasqua to do a live make-up demonstration in their Beak Street store window Thursday evening using their new 'Envy' Christmas Collection 2013, where my followers and shoppers had the chance to watch me at work using the new products.

After experimenting with their new collection and being inspired by their Blizzard Nail varnish (Full of beautiful subtle sequins) I designed and created this above look, naming it- Blizzard Disco! A twist of Christmas with a hint of glitz and glamour you would see at a Christmas which I brought into the hair, forehead and adding a violet shimmer glitter body paint look to the neck and chest area for that extra shimmering wow factor.

To create the Face make-up look I mainly used the NEW Fatale Eye shadow palette which has four very unique but complimentary shades. They can be worn individually, as well as together on eyes, cheeks and lips. The eye shadows are extremely soft without any fallout so therefore are multi use. Finally to add Sculpt to my models features the NEW Sculpting Powder Duo set was used. It contains neutral matt Heliopolis for razor-sharp definition, and shimmering champagne Lumos to highlight and illuminate.

Blizzard Disco. Playing with makeup ready for my Live Illamasqua Demonstration.

After winning the Illamasqua Distinction In Make-Up Artistry Awards, Illamasqua kindly asked me & other winners to do a live makeup demo with their new Christmas 2013 collection at their Beak Street store in their window whilst the Grazia Carnaby street event happens!

After experimenting with the new makeup collection and designing my look on my Karla Chart I found myself being inspired by the New Blizzard nail varnish which has subtle sequins that catch the light softly just like snow does in the winter. Finally I wanted an element of glam and glitz and this came from a Christmas Disco, so the mosaic mirrors on the makeup design worked so well with this look I was trying to achieve.

I can’t wait to show you all the final images of my look at the event. A full list of products will be shared too to get the look! And… I filmed my first ever tutorial of this look on my new Canon Camera which will edited soon, so you too can create this look before Christmas!

Hand Made False Nails! ‘Broken Glass’ Inspired.

I love to make everything now for my shoots if I have the time to do so. I had so much getting creative with the false nails using real broken mirrors, hand painted texture as the base & adding large glitter pieces for the final reflective effect.

This is for a Lip Art photoshoot I have this Saturday to match my Broken Glass Lips!

Can’t wait to show you this series of images once released.

I am in love with this editorial with Beyoncé … GLITTER!

Beyoncé posed for Flaunt Magazine in a coating of bronze glitter! I am truly inspired and want to experiment with glitter more after seeing these images.

The editorial is by photographer Tony Duran and shot in 2011 as part of her Year of 4 album campaign, but now the pictures have emerged in a stunning editorial in Flaunt magazine.

My final blog post of my weekend at IMATS where I had the chance to demonstration my Pop Art and Snow Queen looks on the Crownbrush UK stand. My Snow Queen of Sweets look got such an amazing response when I did the photoshoot back in December 2012 I wanted to be able to showcase and for people to see it up close and personal. Reason being in life it looks so much better. The camera doesn’t pick up the fine detail I do in this design.

This weekend was an amazing eye opening weekend for me and my makeup world. I have found it incredibly emotionally overwhelming the support and fan base I have. This weekend hit home how much I actually have achieved in such a short amount of time. I can’t believe the support & love I have had. This will now push me more to keep doing what I love.

“The key to happiness is having dreams… The key to success is making dreams come true”.

Thank you to everyone that helped me out for my Snow Queen demonstration and made this dream come true for me…
