Don’t be afraid to experiment…
One thing a lot of new makeup artists do is they stick to eyeshadows for eyes , lipstick for lips , blush for cheeks…No,no,no! There are no rules with makeup!
I love to use lipstick for cream blusher, eyeshadows for lipstick, blusher for lips and so fourth. The same rule applies with makeup brushes. Just because its labelled as ‘Lip Brush’ it doesn’t mean it’s a lip brush!
You need to experiment with products and brushes and do what feels right for you! You will feel more free as an artist and see yourself becoming more creative! In this picture I am using a face paint for lipstick and an eyeliner brush to apply! I like to break rules.

Is it a drawing or is it make-up? That is the question I want people to ask when they see my Pop Art Inspired Make-up Series… I wanted to create an illusion!

After my amazing response for posting my first Pop Art look here is my second Pop Art Inspired Make-up Image from my ‘Pop Art Inspired Series’, I love this one as you can see the body painting that was created my Deborah Love on the neck and chest from Follies Face. There are more edited images from this series to come! I can’t wait to demo this at IMATS London on The Crownbrush stand.
The DreamTeam that made it happen:

I LOVE Lip Art!

Forget nail art! It’s official lip art is the next big trend and it’s one of my favourite things to do! With a steady hand, richly pigmented colours and a lot of patience, lips can be the ultimate cosmetic work of art for close up photoshoots to looks on yourself (if you are daring enough)

I want to inspire you pick up your make-up brushes, pigments, lipsticks and anything else you can use to get your creative juices flowing!

I loved using my Crown brushes in style C160-1/8 Angle liner  which is only £2.29 for precise lip work! This look was created for Crownbrushes Instagram #Crownthelook. I added gloss to the last look as I couldn’t decide whether it looks best in matte or gloss? What do you prefer?

Do you use a stainless steel palette on your make-up jobs?

They are considered a Pro Essential. Whether you’re mixing cream-based or liquid makeup, holding excess product, or applying on the skin, this kind of palette is always durable and good for a bustling shoot schedule. It’s the bridge between your professional makeup products and your client’s beautiful face. This is from Crownbrush 613 7Pc HD Set which comes with six make-up brushes too. The palette has enough room to put moisturiser, foundations, concealers, gel liner, eyelash glue, lipsticks, and glosses on the palette and comes with double ended mental spatula to pick up most of your products to place on the palette.

I do tend to use the back of my hand a lot for my palette however when I am mixing up a lot of products this palette comes out to play. I simply wipe it down and place back in my make-up kit and take home to clean for the next shoot/event.

What do you use?

Behind the scenes to continue Luke Woodford’s Abandoned Fashion Series in the UK on the beautiful Sara Grabek

After our little trip in Belgium to shoot with designer Malgorzata Dudek we continue the series of images in this time in the UK at a beautiful abandoned building, it was super sunny and a more calmer location to work at, the Belgium shoot we had to climb hills in the bad weather and all sorts!

To keep with the theme of the concept and using the same beautiful clothes I kept the make up & hair exactly the same however I changed the eyes bringing more detail and drama with fine feather lines and dots, what was good about re creating this look is how I can improve it from last time- better products to make it look more whiter, more durable products and how I can make the makeup complement the clothes better. I really do prefer this makeup look from the first look I created.

This concept has now ended and will be in a 10 page spread and make front cover for a magazine that sells in Selfridges and Harrods. I can’t wait to reveal the final images and see them in print. I am now off to The Lake District with Luke Woodford in a few weeks time for a new concept and new shoot for another magazine so I am starting to plan for that now.

Did you prefer this look or the one I did before?
