Your wedding day is the time to be in the spotlight, so don’t let your make-up overwhelm your natural beauty. But if you want a bit of oomph, a matte blue red lip is gorgeous for a fall or summer wedding.
Wedding make-up is something I don’t normally carry out however for family & friends I get such pleasure making them feel & look wonderful for their big day. Jemma has been my lip model for many years now so I felt honoured to be asked to do her wedding make-up! I couldn’t think of anyone more perfect to pull of the matte vintage red lip on their wedding day.

When I think back to IMATS London last weekend I am still lost for words and so overwhelmed by all the support from everyone.
I thank each and every one of you that came and visited me on the Temptu stand where I was demonstrating the first look from my new ‘Human Emotion’ Series. The series will be based on creative looks inspired by different emotions we as people encounter. The look I demonstrated at IMATS is the ‘Envy’ emotion, which has took many months of planning & preparation and hard work from my amazing team! I can’t wait to create the look again for professional images to add to my portfolio.
I also want to thank my followers who came to my presentation on the Sunday. I thought I would never have the chance to appear as a speaker at IMATS, so to be asked this year I felt so honoured. I also overcame my fear of being on stage that day (I was a nervous wreck!). However, after seeing many familiar faces and having such amazing support I soon forgot about the nerves and it was the best feeling in the world having the chance to share my tips, tricks and experiences.
I love make up so much so its such a privilege to be able to work and demonstrate there surrounded by such talent and inspirational people. IMATS 2014 weekend was incredible and I love going as an make-up artist and a fan! My only issue is the weekend goes way too fast, roll on next year! The dream now is to attend all the IMATS around the world!
Inspired by my personal frustration with the lack of correctly-shaped lip brushes on the market, My Lip Brush Set is a collection of three synthetic lip brushes designed specially for professional creative work with glosses, pigments, creams and stains.
The brushes are set in a hand-formed matte wooden handle with silver metal ferrule, emblazoned with Karla’s silver logo and coding.
The set arrives encased in a Karla-branded pink and black case. Each brush is created with vegan-friendly, 100% synthetic Taklon fibre, chosen for its unrivalled superiority when working with both wet and dry cosmetic formulas. These brushes are also really useful for creating perfect brows, precision gel eyeliner and more defined lines when creating make-up looks on the face.
KL1:The Filling Brush. A traditional lip brush with a rounded tip and firm point, designed to enable even application of all lip products, with precision focus for rapidly filling the lips. The bevelled shape allows for accurate lining of the lips without compromising on coverage.
KL2: The Precision Brush. A softer, more absorbent brush which produces an even, thin and perfectly straight line when defining the lips; eliminating the need for a lip pencil. The flat angle is designed to line the lips before filling with the KL1 brush.
KL3:The Cupid ’s bow Brush. This sharply-angled brush works to neatly trace the Cupid ’s bow, defining the lip shape and creating a fuller pout, whilst preventing product from bleeding onto the skin.
Caring for your Karla Lip Brushes:
Synthetic cosmetic brushes should always be cleaned every-other day, as use with wet products can create bacteria build-up. Any alcohol-based brush cleaner will break down grease residue in lip products. Always wash immediately after using a highly-pigmented product. Take care not to soak the brush handles, and to keep the ferrule dry.
These are intensely rich vibrant matte powders in the finest pure pigment, available in eight neon shades (£15.50 each).
One of the most exciting things about these powders is the fact they are UV responsive which all shades will react and glow with black UV light! Great for a night event where there UV lights or maybe a UV photo-shoot?
The florescent pigment can be applied wet or dry to the skin using a synthetic brush and look great for neon lip looks or neon eye looks. They also look amazing on the cheeks for a daring creative look! The pure pigment powder may stain the skin so I do suggest using base foundation or primer to protect the skin.
Kiko Limited Edition Life in Rio Summer Collection Exotic Shine Lipsticks
Kiko is one of my favourite affordable make-up brands at the moment. The collections are so beautifully designed and every detail is thought about when developing each product.
This collection was inspired by the colourful street life in Rio, which imitates the vibrant bold street life Rio is famous for.
Out of the entire collection my favourite piece had to be the Exotic Shine Lipsticks in shades 04 & 02 which smell like tropical fruits! All the lipstick have a soft creamy texture, great colour pay off for this Summer lip trends and when applied to the lips with a lip brush they leave a subtle satin finish. They give you the perfect juicy summer lip look for sure.
Don’t you just love the stunning gold packaging?
The exotic shine lipsticks are available in six shades, only £8.50 each. Check out the beautiful collection on www.kikocosmetics.co.uk .
After an amazing time in New York it was time to reflect on what a special 10 days it has been. It has always been an ambition to work in America and to do it with Karla Cosmetics so early on was a massive honor.
I also wanted to thank all of my followers, not just in America but around the world. Your support and messages mean the world to me and you have given me a platform to be able to live my dreams everyday.
In September I return to New York launch my range out there at Kenig & Alcone. We will be running an amazing competition as well to celebrate the launch! (Hint… You will need a Karla Chart to enter this amazing give away!!)
I have also recently released some new UK & Glasgow Workshop dates. The Lip Art classes will be running at;
It has been an exciting week preparing for my workshop at Temptu and also going to a number of meetings with potential stockists for my Karla Cosmetics products.
I have been truly humbled by the response and the way in which the people in New York have helped, guided and believed in the dream. I cannot thank the people of America enough for their amazing feedback and response to my products.
I am so excited to announce my products will be available in New York later this year at Kenig & Alcone, 538 6th Avenue, New York. The owner Ricky Kenig has vast experience in the make up industry, owning 20 + make up shops throughout NYC. You may be familiar with the Rickys stores across New York? Kenig & Alcone is where the pro’s shop in New York.
Ricky is a truly inspirational guy and I cannot wait for my products to be available at this amazing store.
Since launching Karla Cosmetics there has been huge interest from my American followers and I wanted them to be able to see and hold my products. New York is only one destination but I hope that this is the start of something special and what better place is there to launch than the greatest City in the world!
I want to thank you all for this amazing opportunity, without my followers this trip wouldn’t be possible. You have helped my dreams come true. I also want to thank a very special lady, Sasha Badillo whom I have worked with closely to set up my workshop and also helped set up meetings with Ricky.
Keep an eye out for a very special competition coming soon.
I loved getting creative with this new beauty photo-shoot. It was a chance for me to do something I haven’t done before with my creative direction and design and make my first ever haute couture head piece inspired by the remarkable couture headpiece designer katsuya kamo.
The start of the look is where she appears Serene- beautifully calm, peaceful, and untroubled; tranquil. Focusing mainly on the high hair and keeping the make-up pale and simple with a few flashes of highlights on the cheekbones and the centre of the lips. The look then moves onto her being Sonorous- where she becomes very impressive, prenticious, and overblown with the main focus on the head piece where I had the chance to emphasise its brilliance and startling details. This way I could minimise the make-up look with no attention-grabbing complexity. Simply focusing on the bold lip tones and stunning white and black head pieces.
Which is your favourite look from my new beauty series? I can’t wait to demonstrate this look at IMATS,London with Temptu on Sunday 29th June 2014.
Here is my new video showing my new Karla Cosmetics lip brush set. These are due to go on sale very soon! Watch for a sneak preview of the brushes in action and how to use them when creating the perfect lips.
